This week, our researchers revealed another chapter of the Book of Talos. The fifth installment of the Book of Talos presents how the hero gets his first labor to understand his destiny. It was revealed to him by the Sokwe, mysterious creatures he encountered on the island.
The Fifth Installment Translation
“Talos explained how he was there to figure out his destiny and train, even though he did not know what that meant then. The Sokwe stopped the conversation as they had forgotten to introduce themselves. Intrigued by the talk, they said, ‘We are known as Kondo, Condo, and Jondo,’ each saying their names in order. Given the burden of exceeding longevity, we are the elders of Thalassa, the caretakers of nature, and the forsaken of the Sokwe. We are the last of our tribe, and our knowledge dies with us. This seems like a good place to end the conversation. Please leave our house.’ So, Talos decided to get on his way to return to the Skapelse. However, before leaving, he gathered some leaves and bedding material for the night. He would stay there until the morning to make sure he did not miss them again.
The following day, the Sokwe emerged, passing by Talos without saying a word. So, Talos decided to wait there until they returned. Talos waited for three sets of three days, only leaving to fetch water and eat once a day. Then he would return to his spot so as to not miss the moment they passed by each day. First, he watched the sun rise and fall at the world’s edge, sitting there in meditation and deep contemplation. Then Kondo sat right in front of him, without saying a word, joining his meditation. Finally, after a full day in silence, Kondo invited Talos to join them inside the home. The Sokwe were all sitting around a fire meditatively, with a fourth spot meant for Talos. He sat there quietly and attentively.”
