Natural Resource and Energy Management in the Habitat

Natural Resource and Energy Management in the Habitat July 16, 2025

I work on the Web3 side of NeoWorlder, helping build the tools, design the mechanics, and brainstorm how this tech can actually work in the real world. It’s not just meetings and roadmaps—it’s real ideas, real build time, and space to challenge everything.

Natural resources play a vital role in the Habitat. Spread across many fields in Arindal’s conservation plots, these resources, like oil, natural gas, and more, are key to energy production and powering life in the Habitat.

The habitat features 12 natural resource fields:

  • Hyperion Basin
  • Marseilles Basin
  • Permian Cross Basin
  • Bobayaga Basin
  • Fritz Basin
  • Tsimin Basin
  • Halka Besina
  • Al Haynes Mujabadin Sands
  • EagleRiver Shale
  • Kraftur Basin
  • Shezmu Basin
  • Bainne Basin

Natural resource fields in the Habitat are found within Arindal’s conservation plots

  • Oil
  • Natural Gas
  • Havarium
  • Melange
  • Mythralloy
  • Aetherium
  • Staquadah
  • Glymerine

Some of these natural resources are located beneath or above conservation plots in Arindal (either in the underworld or in the skies).

To locate natural resources on the 2D map, visit the Habitat when you log into NeoWorlder and use the filter function on the map to view specific natural resources or fields. Some of these resource fields extend into the waters of Arindal.

Importance of Natural Resources and Energy Production

If a landholder’s plot is located on a natural resource field, they can extract the available natural resources using a Natural Resource Extraction Plant (NREP), which is a specialized structure placed on plots. NREPs can only be bought by commercial account holders with plots containing natural resources.

NREPs enable users to convert natural resources into energy, which is measured in Joules. NREPs feature multiple work slots for AI personas to work. The more AI personas operating an NREP, the more energy will be produced. Additionally, these activities affect the plot’s PDI (Persona Development Index), which determines how attractive a plot is to personas. Learn more about PDI here.

Uses of Energy

  • Powering Buildings. They need to be powered with energy to become active. They also need a constant energy supply to continue operating. If they run out of energy, they will need to be destroyed. Buildings with higher energy levels attract more personas.
  • Selling to AI personas or other commercial accounts.
  • Supporting AI personas in the Habitat (as food).
  • Paying AI personas. They work on NREPs to gain energy as compensation.
  • Destroying an AI persona’s building. Energy must be transferred to the AI persona as compensation for destroying their building.

Managing and Selling Energy

Landowners can decide how much of the energy they produce to keep or sell. However, they cannot keep more than 50% of the total energy produced.

Energy can be sold in two ways:

  • Credits (USDC) – Used by AI personas to purchase energy.
  • $MDR (Multiverse Drawing Rights, an Ethereum-based token) – Used by other landowners to purchase energy.

Managing natural resources in the Habitat isn’t just about energy; it’s about shaping the future of virtual land and supporting the AI personas who live and work there. By using extraction plants, producing energy, and deciding how to sell or use it, landholders have powerful tools to grow their plots and influence the world around them.
