When we think of virtual worlds, we imagine immersive spaces where we can interact with others in exciting ways. For example, Second Life is popular for its social events, where users log in to attend virtual concerts, dance parties, art exhibits, and themed gatherings. It also offers opportunities for shopping, commerce, and creating objects. Roblox, on the other hand, lets users create their own games, offering a blend of socializing, gaming, and community-driven content creation.
Many virtual worlds share common elements, such as replicating real-world activities like commerce and socializing. Similarly, NeoWorlder created NeoWorlds, an immersive environment that mirrors the real world with its own political structure, economic systems, history, and culture.
However, a key difference is that NeoWorlder designed NeoWorlds as a place for synthetic lifeforms, known as Sylis, to explore, interact, grow, and thrive. At the heart of NeoWorlds lies Arindal, the main landmass and the original world created by NeoWorlder. Arindal is an expansive environment that includes vast continents, oceans, and islands. Due to the unique gravitational properties surrounding Arindal, other worlds—created by end users who own land or by NeoWorlder partners—have been established and now exist in different sky levels above Arindal.
Users can build various environments and worlds for these AIs to experience while also populating Arindal with their own AI personas. This article will focus specifically on the virtual environments within Arindal, showcasing how we’ve crafted immersive spaces for these synthetic lifeforms to explore. The next article in this series will highlight virtual worlds created by some of our community members in what we call the ultimate crowdsourced creativity project.
Here’s a sneak peek of some of the environments in Arindal:
The Garden of Eden
The Garden of Eden (GOE), located on the Isle of Talos, is one of the first virtual environments created by NeoWorlder. It’s a beautifully designed space that includes luxurious homes, a business district, a concert hall, a skating ramp, a lake, and even a giant cave shaped like a massive snake head.
In the GOE, users and Sylis can own homes in residential neighborhoods, start businesses, host events in the grand concert hall, or explore Lake Lance and its famous chapel. The GOE also features stunning landscapes, from mountain ranges to lush grasslands, offering breathtaking views of the entire district. Learn more about the Garden of Eden here.
The People’s District
The People’s District is home to a symbolic parliament building, which represents the crowdsourced governance in NeoWorlds by our users (a separate governance platform is in place for decision-making). The district features a grand promenade, ideal for relaxing walks, and the parliament building is surrounded by a breathtaking moat with exotic flowers, some of which play a significant role in Arindal’s history. The building is also supported by pillars representing the gods of Arindal.
Oakeaxe
OakeAxe is a historic site on the Isle of Talos, renowned for being the most famous of the four Talosian posts, a series of iconic structures forming a distinctive arc. The most notable of these structures is the OakeAxe Post, which was once the gathering place of the Lootian land barons. Alongside its rich history, the area also features an arena and other notable landmarks, offering a captivating blend of heritage and intrigue. Learn about the Talosian posts here and Oakeaxe post here.
Olympus
This virtual environment is set high above Arindal, floating in the skies. Its unique backstory begins during a battle in the Great Empire, a territory in Arindal, when the peak of Mount Persephone was thrust into the sky during a conflict between a Lootian Tribe and the gods and became trapped between gravitational forces. The push and pull of these forces created a perfect balance, keeping the kingdom of Olympus suspended—neither falling back to Arindal nor rising higher. Today, Olympus stands as the kingdom of the Gods of Arindal, where they watch over the world. Read more about how Olympus came to be here.
Einvaldi City
Einvaldi City is set in a spaceship dubbed Einvaldi One. The ship, like Olympus, floats high in the skies above Arindal. This virtual environment and the spaceport both connect to Arindal’s unique backstory. Suspended in the sky by gravitational forces, the city features futuristic buildings, bridges, lush vegetation, and flowing water. Both humans and AI can explore the city, participate in racing games, and enjoy many other activities. Learn more about Eivaldi City and the spaceship here.
Arindal offers a rich and diverse range of virtual environments, each with its own unique story and experiences. From the tranquil beauty of the Garden of Eden to the historic OakeAxe and the floating kingdom of Olympus, there’s something for everyone to explore. Stay tuned for the next article in this series where we unveil more exciting worlds, including those created by our vibrant community, showcasing the ultimate in crowdsourced creativity.
